Black's most important attacking pieces are under attack, but Marshall realized that it's the white king who's really in trouble and played Qg3!!. If White plays fxg3, Ne2+! forces the king into h1 and Rxf1# wins. If White tries to take with the h-pawn he runs into checkmate in one after Ne2#, because of the open h-file. If the queen takes queen, again Ne2+, followed by Nxg3+, and the combination of Rxg1# finishes White.
